LYR

MUSIC

A real date for your diary – the Alton Arts Festival will be opened on 5th July by  the internationally acclaimed, genre-splicing supergroup LYR, fronted by none other than current poet laureate Simon Armitage.

Along with Simon Armitage, LYR are Alton based singer-songwriter Richard Walters, and multi-instrumentalist/producer Patrick James Pearson.

You can expect

“poetic spoken passages, soaring vocal melodies, and instrumentation which gleams like a rough-cut jewel”

DATE: 05/07/24

TIME: Doors 7.30pm

VENUE: Alton Assembly Rooms

Formed in 2018, LYR are now a firmly established part of the contemporary music scene, with two critically acclaimed albums, Call In The Crash Team and The Ultraviolet Age, and over three million streams to their name. They have appeared at many major festivals over the past three years including Green Man, Latitude, and Blu Dot and completed sell-out UK tours at venues such as the Howard Assembly Room in Leeds.

We are SO excited to be bringing this incredible act to Alton – it really is one not to be missed.
