A real date for your diary – the Alton Arts Festival will be opened by an internationally acclaimed, genre-splicing supergroup fronted by none other than current poet laureate Simon Armitage.
LYR are Simon Armitage, Alton based singer-songwriter Richard Walters, and multi-instrumentalist/producer Patrick James Pearson.
You can expect
“poetic spoken passages, soaring vocal melodies, and instrumentation which gleams like a rough-cut jewel”
Formed in 2018, LYR are now a firmly established part of the contemporary music scene, with two critically acclaimed albums, Call In The Crash Team and The Ultraviolet Age, and over three million streams to their name. They have appeared at many major festivals over the past three years including Green Man, Latitude, and Blu Dot and completed sell-out UK tours at venues such as the Howard Assembly Room in Leeds.
We are SO excited to be bringing this incredible act to Alton – it really is one not to be missed.
