Renowned stone mason, sculptor and Alton local, David Wilkins shares his career’s worth of expertise in this hands-on sculpting workshop in the gardens of Chawton House on 10 July.

A block of limestone and all tools will be provided. By the end of the day the attendee will have something carved by themselves to take home. All carvings will be in relief from a selection of designs and examples provided. Students will be introduced to the basic skills, techniques, safety training and design requirements.

David is a stone Mason, carver and sculptor whose family come from Alton. Growing up in Four Marks, he attended Alton College. He has worked for the National Trust and studied architectural stone carving at the renowned C&G London School of Art School. His work can be found in St George's Chapel Windsor. This year will see him exhibit a collection of stone sculptures inspired by chalk downs.
