KATHERINE PRIDDY

One of the most compelling voices in contemporary British folk, Katherine Priddy comes to Alton this summer on the back of her most ambitious record yet.

These Frightening Machines – her third album, released in March via Cooking Vinyl – has arrived to widespread critical acclaim, with reviewers calling it her most fully realised and sonically evolved work to date. Produced by Rob Ellis (PJ Harvey, Anna Calvi, Bat for Lashes) and written across a year of transition and reflection, it's a record that asks the questions many of us carry quietly: how do we keep going when things fall apart? How do we hold on to what matters in a world that keeps pulling us apart?

With her haunting vocals, distinctive fingerpicked guitar and a gift for lyricism that is both deeply personal and universally felt, Priddy has sold out headline tours, performed on Later with Jools Holland, and collaborated with Poet Laureate Simon Armitage. She is, by any measure, an artist at the peak of her powers.

This is the kind of evening that reminds you why live music matters – whether you've followed her from the beginning or you're hearing her for the very first time.
