This July, the Alton Arts Festival is adding something exciting to its opening weekend in partnership with Zooniverse Makers Market.

On Saturday 4 July from 10am to 4pm, the AAF2026/Zooniverse Makers Market will bring together 50 independent creative businesses from across the South of England to launch the festival in style. From original artwork and handcrafted goods to unique designs you won't find anywhere else, it's a brilliant opportunity to discover and support the wealth of creative talent flourishing in our region.

What makes this market truly special is the chance to do more than shop. A number of makers will be running mini workshops and demonstrations from their stalls — so you can pull up a stool, get your hands on something new, learn a skill and take home a piece you've made yourself. It's the kind of experience that turns a browse into a memory.

The Makers Market sets the tone for a festival weekend full of creativity, participation and community — and we can't wait to welcome you.

Are you an independent creative business?

We'd love to have you join us. Applications are open now for makers, designers and artists who'd like to showcase their work — and those offering workshops or demonstrations are especially encouraged to apply. Pitch fees are £75.

The AAF2026 Makers Market takes place on Saturday 4 July, 10am–4pm.
