Who caught our incredibly talented Louisa singing at the Candlelit Christmas concert? It was magical! And here's your chance to see her in action again, in an evening of beauty, reflection and renewal... and all in support of our lovely little festival.

Louisa Hunter-Bradley is a much sought-after classical performer (voice and recorder), who specialises in music from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Louisa curates and programmes our classical offering during the festival, and brings with her a wealth of experience, having been the founding artistic director of the Autumn Chamber Music Festival in Melbourne, Australia. As well as being a performer herself, Louisa currently works as a research associate on the DORMEME project at King's College London, and as a music advisor at the Plantin-Moretus Museum in Antwerp. She knows her stuff!!
Drawing inspiration from the rich history of St Lawrence - particularly its Norman origins
and the era of the Battle of Alton - Songs of Love and Hope will feature a thoughtfully curated programme spanning centuries of music. From medieval chant to baroque treasures and romantic song, the concert reflects themes of love, motherhood, nature and transformation, echoing the timeless Easter story.
Louisa will be joined by pianist Chris Gardner for an intimate and expressive performance. Together they will bring to life music by extraordinary composers including Hildegard von Bingen, Barbara Strozzi, Edvard Grieg and Vaughan Williams, with a special recorder interlude offering a moment of transcendence.
Featuring works by some of history’s most remarkable female composers alongside beloved
classics, this concert is both a reflection on the past and a hopeful prelude to the celebrations of the 2026 Alton Arts Festival. Not to be missed!!
